INTERVIEW VIRGINIE C.
Why did you decide to embark on an entrepreneurial adventure with Claire, co-founder of LUZ?
Claire and I were friends since school, at EDHEC.
A few years after starting work, we asked ourselves questions about our future: with our experiences, Claire in sustainable development and me in department store fashion, we wanted to create products that resemble us, that speak to our generation, but above all ecological and organic products.
It was a pretty innovative idea 8 years ago because brands weren't yet positioning themselves in the responsible development niche. So we made a crazy bet, which few of our loved ones believed in, but which we are so proud of today!
What is your favorite LUZ jersey?
It's hard to choose one, I love them all. But now that I've started surfing and I protect myself even more from the sun, I would go for the CLARA tricolor wetsuit.
When did you become ecologically aware? I think it came thanks to Claire and our LUZ adventure 8 years ago. Claire was the first to make me aware of the issue and over time, the more interested I became, the more I felt it was necessary to get involved in the virtuous circle of responsible development.
Ecology, is it a family affair?
Yes! And LUZ is also a family story! First the one that Claire and I created at the very beginning, then that of Claire and her sister Alix who joined the LUZ adventure very quickly to develop it and make what the brand is today! At home, I try to raise awareness about producing less waste, I use Loop (a delivery service for everyday products in returnable and sustainable containers) for many of my shopping trips in order to recycle as much as possible, and I avoid plastics.
What matters is not being perfect because that is very difficult but acting as best we can according to our constraints, every action counts!
Where do you like to spend your holidays?
I love spending my holidays in France, in the summer the climate is perfect and in the winter I love the dry cold of the mountains. On holiday, you don't leave without... Sunscreen, winter and summer. A good book and my whole family: my husband, my children and my dog!
Is taking care of yourself important?
It's important to dedicate time to yourself, to listen to your body and its limits! However, with the life we lead when we work and have children, it's not always easy. For my part, I try to take 2 hours for myself every Sunday to do sports, have a massage or something else! But time just for me!
